For 2011, the Nissan GT-R receives a few new technology features, including an iPod interface, Bluetooth Streaming Audio, the ability to play DVDs, and automatic on-off headlamps. The rear suspension is retuned, the wheel caps are slightly darker, and additional ducts improve cooling around the rear floor area.
The GT-R uses a hand-built 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V6, mated to a paddle-shifted six-speed sequential dual-clutch transaxle that is mounted at the rear of the vehicle. The transaxle includes hill start assist for easy starts on uphill inclines. Power is transmitted through an electronically-controlled all-wheel drive system specifically developed for the GT-R; it is rear-biased and can vary torque split from 0:100 to 50:50 depending on speed, lateral acceleration, steering angles, tire slip, road surface and yaw rate. The body is hybrid construction, containing steel, die-cast aluminum and carbon fibre.
Features include 20-inch forged aluminum wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, six-piston front and four-piston rear Brembo brakes, Bilstein DampTronic system with three driver-selectable modes, automatic xenon headlamps, LED brake and taillights, heated mirrors, voice-controlled navigation system, Intelligent Key with pushbutton start, driver-configurable vehicle information screen, Bluetooth connectivity and Streaming Audio, garage door opener, driver’s auto up/down window, cruise control, tilt and telescopic steering wheel with audio controls, variable intermittent wipers, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, heated leather seats with perforated synthetic suede inserts, eight-way driver and four-way passenger power adjustment, aluminum pedals, brushed metal interior trim, Bose CD/DVD/MP3 with 9.3 GB Music Box system, Compact Flash card reader, XM satellite radio, iPod interface, tire pressure monitoring system, and anti-theft system.
